Построенный кое-как. Это выражение вошло в употребление в XIX в., когда большой спрос на жилые дома привёл к появлению быстро построенных, но плохо спроектированных и ненадёжных построек. Проблема с жильём была особенно острой в таких портах, как Ливерпуль, где наблюдался большой рост населения и, по-видимому, выражение jerry-built — это адаптация морских терминов jury-rig или jury-mast. Эти термины обозначали временную починку корабля, до настоящего ремонта судна в порту. Jury в этом контексте означает «день» и образовалось от французского jour (день), а mast — это мачта. -
